I began my freelance small business called “Gatekeeper Art” in 2016 a decision I took as a second career move following a sudden critical illness which made me refocus my life. My freelance work has two strands: my work as an artist and secondly my work as a social historian with a community practice. With my artist’s “hat” some of my artworks are currently for sale via retailers in the form of prints and cards but I have also sold original canvasses and undertaken commissions for original pieces. My work as a social historian leads me to carry out the research, design and delivery of community led heritage projects including some experience of film making as well as undertaking lectures and talks to a variety of interest groups. The majority of all of my freelance work is currently completed in Paisley and Renfrewshire. Most of my artwork is informed by my passion for the heritage of the area particularly in relation to the rich design and textile industry associated with Paisley and Renfrewshire.
