Thomas donnelly

I am a self taught artist from paisley , I have lived all over, I have also lived in Australia for just over a year, and I also lived in Germany for a year and a half. I loved travelling and most of my inspiration came from the scenic places that I have been to so I try to incorporate it into my paintings with more emphasis to make my paintings bold and stand out ,

I have had many years of experience trying with different mediums but then i found that my best art work is better with oil paint, as it gives it a better and more realistic finish to my paintings, my inspiration comes from the old masters paintings ,the renaissance period of fine art , I paint near replicas of old masterpieces that come from that period and paint them with my own technique, My work is a reflection of my desire to capture and express the emotions and thoughts that are often left unspoken. Through my art, I aim to connect with others and evoke a sense of contemplation and introspection. I believe that art has the power to convey complex ideas and express feelings in a way that words cannot, and I am constantly exploring new techniques and styles to push the boundaries of my creativity.

I struggled for a while with painting due to having ptsd , then I met Adam McLean an artist and owner of the kilbirnie art gallery who inspired me and gave me the confidence to go forward to persue the best version of my self and ever since then, I haven’t put a paintbrush down, he supports me and has broadened my spectrum in relation to the art world,and also to the importance of my own work in multiple ways,as I had no confidence in myself or my work, he Adam is always pushing me to do more,but mores to the the point he wants me to believe in myself and my creativity ,and push myself.
