Aileen Wrennall

 Having previously painted in watercolour I now work in mixed media.  I enjoy using paint and other materials to produce work which has sweeping brushmarks, deep dark depths, patterns of light and colour and strong contrast. Sometimes I add collage to add structure or shape, either on the surface or buried in the underlying layers  My techniques requiire building up a number of layers of thick paint, which I work into with different implements to make interesting marks and scratches.It is interesting to use unusual colours at ths stage as they get buried into the painting to be revealed later. Taking away some of the upper layers allows for some lovely surprises and jewel like colours from below are revealed. I am an artist member of the PAI and GSWA and have exhibited and sold both nationally and internationally.
