Mike Wrennall

I have been carving stone for a number of years having started with RIG Arts, Greenock.  I Ilke to carve 'found stone' mainly from building being demolished in the local area, which gives a sense of provenence.  I also carve in sandstone, limestone and slate, prefering sculpting abstract heads and Celtic and Pictish animals. I paint some of my works since there is historical data showing early Celtic, Roman and Greek statues were painted as were many statues found on ancient cathedrals..  Many of my 'heads are influenced by artists such as Brancusi, Modigliani, Picasso, Henry Moore and Anthony Gormly.. I am an elected artist member of the Paisley Art Institute and have ehibited and sold with them. I also u8ndertake commissions.
