Statement
I studied drawing and painting at Glasgow School of Art from 1983-1988 and continued postgraduate studies at Rijksakademie in Amsterdam from 1989-1992. I have a Masters in Social Work from the University of Edinburgh and completed PGDE Art & Design at the University of Strathclyde in 2022. My current work remains diverse in nature incorporating experimental film/video-making, installation and two-dimensional works either painting, drawing or collage. I have exhibited in Scotland and internationally and have been involved artist-initiated projects in Glasgow. I was recipient of a Scottish Arts Council Film and Video Award in 2006, the Arnold Clark Prize at The Paisley Art Institute 132nd Annual Exhibition in 2020 and the Outspoken Arts and Scottish Society of Artists Prize at The Big Art Show in 2022. I was recipient of a Visual Arts & Craft Makers Award to develop my interest in portraiture in 2022 and I regularly exhibit in the Scottish Portrait Awards exhibitions. My life experience contributes to my work with a focus on themes both personal and political. Theories of feminism and anarchism inform my ongoing praxis and I try to combine creativity, thinking, and action towards personal development and social justice.
