Caroline Watson

I make drawings and mixed material works on paper exploring the theme of place and attachment. I want to depict light and space in my work that it might suggest connection and wonder. Though I have always lived in cities, I am drawn to the natural environment. I love to walk – urban or countryside – to experience the immediacy and connection to where I am; drawn to green spaces not as a refuge but as integral to our cultural selves. I am a Canadian Scot who lives and works in Paisley. Studying first at Fanshawe College in London Ontario, I completed my degree at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design including a self directed residency in the Orkney Islands then later moving permanently to Scotland. I am a member of the Scottish Centre for Geopoetics and part of the editorial team for Stravaig, the on-line journal.
