Statement

Art and colour was always important to me, especially colour. As a child playing with my pals we ventured to where they, were building new properties at the top of the road. My friend shouted out look at the snow, look up. Unfortunately, I did, she had thrown lime plaster up in the air, and when I looked up, the lime plaster fell into my eyes. I was an emergency patient at the local Eye Infirmary,  in Paisley. I had years of problems with my eyes flaring up, and sight and colour was extremely important to me. As I changed into adulthood,  my eyes improved. However,  colours and art were important to me. I had difficulty reading as I found the glare of the white pages almost painful. That is why I initially liked cool colours as my eyes were initially so inflamed and painful. However,  time for me has moved on and I enjoy painting in particular, all sorts of colour including RED, which to me initially was the colour of pain.
