Sandra Vick

Sandra Vick is an award winning graduate of Edinburgh College of Art. She holds a BA (Hons) and a post graduate MFA in painting.

This latest collection of paintings is the result of a conscious effort, for the past year, to not focus on finished pieces but to just play, experiment, respond and research. In February 2023, Sandra had the opportunity to spend a week on a Cove Park artist residency, which gave her the time and space to bring together all the work she had been doing. The result is what you see here today. 

In the language of her economics background Sandra previously painted ‘micro’ nature - birds, flowers, hares, and trees. Now this new body of work is a ‘macro’ view of the Scottish landscape combining all those micro elements. 

With this collection of paintings she brings together her love of the simplicity yet accuracy of silhouette, her passion for the outdoors, her joy in mark making, and her wonderful use of colour to produce landscape paintings that bring us the essence of our Scottish landscape without being too literal in representation.
