Margaret Tomlinson

The environment is important to me and my surroundings play a big part in how I think and feel, this is shown in the range of subject matter depicting a moment in time or a simple feeling that lives in my brain somewhere and just has to be portrayed on any surface. I think freely and feel deeply so I create what inspires me and this can change daily. I  studied interior design at HND level but didn’t like the idea of being in an office so I then went onto to Environmental Art, again at HND level which I loved and still do. I have a deep respect for nature and spend hours walking in all kind of terrain, where I take many photos. This allows me to work at home where I create whatever my emotions tells me to so it could be some architectural, a bird or something abstract within the space of a day and this is done on a wide range of mixed media or Acrylic depending on my subject. I love life and have been drawing and painting since I was a very small child so it is part of my being to be an artist.

I am passionate about the outdoors and try to portray this in my art. I paint what captures me within a second of time using my own photography as a reference. My medium is varied and sometimes mixed depending on subject and how I want the finished piece to look.  Art is a need for me!
