Alex Deveney

My name is Alex Deveney and I took up portrait work in 2019. The majority of my work is commissioned graphite and charcoal portraits of people, although I also draw pet commissions in polychromos pencils. In between commissions, I try to broaden my range by using other mediums, such as watercolour for portraits and oils for landscapes. I am completely self-taught, and just try to enjoy the process of learning and improving. 

I have had two exhibitions of my work in Gourock, and was lucky enough to be chosen among eight other artists for a project called Digital Open Studios, during which we were interviewed for a short film showcasing our work, in order to promote and encourage creativity in Inverclyde. This can be seen on cvs Inverclyde YouTube channel. 

I am very much looking forward to seeing the artwork on display during the Big Art Show, regardless of whether any of my work is chosen. I am sure it will be a rich and diverse collection of art, and I would be delighted to be involved, even in a small way.
