This painting is part of my seascape series, inspired by cold water swimming and surreal Scottish skies. "Deep Breath' Is so named as it combines the surface of water with the depths. It is light penetrating water and distorting colour and shape. Swimming in open water sometimes you get a beautiful view of marine or freshwater life, other times all you really see is darkness apart from what light can penetrate the waters surface, leading to distorted visions and often imaginative creatures of the deep.
