I have been working my way through the A - Z of dog breeds and this is C for Chihuahua. I wanted to capture the intelligence of this wee breed in this painting. I used a blue background to compliment the warm tones in the fur. I like how he appears to be about to say something. I think it's important to try and capture an animal's character in a painting and I hope that I have achieved this here. I think that dogs really engage with humans and if you can capture their gaze looking right at you, it creates a more engaging portrait.
