Oil on Canvas. Inspired by statues in a car Park in Olympia in Washington State, and by fairytales by the Brothers Grimm. The statues were created by Nancy Thorne and are characters from a children's story, but to me they seemed sad, and slight sinister. My mother was dux of Abercorn School, and she kept one of her prizes, a beautiful copy of fairytales by the Brothers Grimm . I read it over and over and studied the illustrations. Many of the tales are cautionary, and warn us that things may not be as they appear. The mountains in the background are near Olympia and are known as The Brothers.
