Lets take a moment to look around ourselves, what do we see? - a world transforming and with it our society where a ‘smile’ has become a mask to hide behind. Feelings, emotions and struggles have become too grotesque for our modern world that we see the need to glamorise it with a spurious smile. But the question still remains, ‘what hides behind those smiles?’ Is it simply a disguise for ones endeavour to remain persistent to life’s inevitable challenges? - to prevent ones life from falling apart or is it simply to keep secrets? The present painting, which is a ‘participatory art piece’ aims to open up these ideas for discussions - encouraging the audiences’ participation, interpretation and reaching their own conclusion.
