When I saw the photograph, by young American photographer Megan Ruth, I knew I wanted to paint it. I cut stencils and masked out the figure and painted the background using acrylic spray paint, finishing with the gold. I wanted the figure to contrast completely with the background an so I used the blackest matt paint available BLK 3.0 by Stuart Semple. This is the first in a series in this style.
