Long & Winding is a mixed media piece inspired by the rolling hills & winding roads around our farm . I created this using a watercolour resist technique with black Indian ink. A gouache layer is applied as a resist then the entire piece is covered in Indian ink which when dry is washed off. This leaves the gouache areas with a slight stain & the unpainted paper black. Layers of watercolour are used to add depth to the colour & the black ink areas create an almost printerly effect to the finished piece.
