Oil on canvas. I was looking for a photo I took several years ago from the rear of Glasgow University as a reference to paint the magnificent Gilbert Scott building. Alas is was not to be found. A couple of days later with a clear sky and the sun in the late afternoon I sensed another chance to capture the scene as the sun played on the sandstone. I rushed over and got several shots which became the reference for this and other paintings. It is one thing to paint this building but I think it is another to design and build it.
