Part of a series of work entitled 'Strangers in a Fractured View' featuring paintings and sculptures capturing refracted and warped reflections in glass. The self portraits and studies of strangers on public transport were all referenced from photographs taken on the underground.
Using the reflections on the carriage window I was able to create warped compositions and fractured views without any use of digital editing.
Early on in the process I began to explore the personal reflections of mental health that were emanating from the pieces. I have my own experience in psychosis and have always been extremely open with it.
These works are an honest look into the duality, pain and sometimes beauty that can be found in the day to day life of those experiencing mental health.
