During the COVID-19 pandemic, I created a series of paintings that departed from my customary figurative style. These works were a response to the hypocrisy of the actions of politicians during a time of challenge for everyone. The notion that some people believe there is one rule for them and another for the rest of us was a source of frustration for me.
I incorporated humour into my paintings as a way to process her feelings. I hope that in years to come, these works will add my voice from a different perspective to the cacophony of other artists' voices that were created during these unprecedented times.
