Rock Art is the name given to the strange carved symbols thought to be made by early farming communities over 4000 years ago. They are found scattered on rocks across the landscape and often consists of series of concentric circles known as ‘cups and rings’. I have been attracted to them when viewing Neolithic Standing Stones across Scotland and beyond and frequently use them as a surface texture in my work.
