Statement

I would describe myself as a mixed media artist with a passion for ceramics and recycling. I love to reuse any old junk I find on the street that catches my eye and incorporate it into my work. I love traditional pen and ink and the feel of vintage paper. My creative expressionism was hugely defined by my mentor and great friend, Janice Cornwall. Sadly no longer with us, she was an amazing artist and encouraged me both in methodology e.g. mood boards, colour and creativity. I owe her a debt of gratitude and miss her terribly.

My work title is Dysfunctional- A family tri.  It is intended to be displayed as a quartet. It depicts a life journey from the innocence of childhood to the troubles of adulthood. The overall title is a play on the notion of a family tree and the Irish number 3, tri, used to quantify the number of children recurring in all of the pieces.

For me, art is therapy and both the creative process and expressionism I discovered making this series of work has helped me in so many ways, too numerous to mention.
