Ann Marie Scott

During the spring of 2019 I discovered something new and exciting about myself. I could paint! On holiday in Norway with a small watercolour set and pad in hand I was bitten with the bug.

Coming home I knew my life would never be the same and with a passion to learn I sought out every avenue.

Thankfully a very talented local artist Joan Lawson had space in her studio and my journey of learning and practice began. As lockdown closed the door of studio study, Joan opened another with online classes and a new platform of exciting work began.

Pastels have been the basis of many of my paintings so far. Lynn Howarth's online courses by Strathclyde University during lockdown were a wonderful way to develop. Her enthusiasm and techniques have been very influential in my work.

I have lived on the west coast of Scotland all of my life. My work is influenced by the beautiful coastal views, woodland walks and Mother Nature’s spectacular beauty.
