Paul Copeland

Statement

Paul Copeland hails from Paisley, Scotland, and is an abstract illustrator, taking influences from surrealism, abstract-expressionism, meso-american art and is particularly inspired by post war abstract artists such as Kazuo Shiraga, Mark Rothko, and also has a fondness for the insane detail of Stanislaw Szukalski. He also takes inspiration from Bridget Riley and MC Escher. His work deals with themes of absurdism, improvisation, digital dissolution and archetypes, usually by creating a world with its own internal logic . Paul is often found as the illustrative contributor to album covers from within Glasgow’s music scene .

Last year Paul was part of abstract artist Zaina Al Hizami’s group show in Soho, London . He has also exhibited with sixfoot gallery .
