Laura Carter

My name is Laura Carter and I am an artist from Wakefield, West Yorkshire. I’m best known for my animal portraiture that is made entirely from various types of paper. My artwork combines my paper collage skills with my love of animals and wildlife. For each piece, I select the correct colours and shades of paper to match the image that I’m making from my extensive collection of different coloured, patterned and textured papers (mostly wallpaper samples). I cut, rip and manipulate the paper and build it up layer by layer to create a tactile and textured piece of art. Finally, any tiny details that cannot be captured using paper are added using fine-liner pens.

For the past 5 years, I have continued to build upon my collage skills; completing many pet portraits as well as exhibiting artwork around the United Kingdom including in London and also at last year’s Big Art Show in Paisley.
