Catherine McEachern

My abstract paintings are expressions of my love of the ocean and nature. I use acrylic paints, often mixing and layering with spackle paste, to create abstract compositions that evoke the movement, colours, and textures of the natural world. I aim to capture the beauty and complexity of the environment, as well as the emotions it inspires within me. I often use colours and forms to loosely suggest land or seascapes within my work, but encourage viewers to find their own meaning in each of my paintings. 

When working in realism, my painting are reflective of my interest in storytelling. I use acrylics to depict buildings, streets and people that capture my imagination. I like to focus on details and nuances that reveal some of their character and history. In this way, my work invited the viewer on a visual journey of appreciation of the everyday scenes and subjects that surround us.
