Created using charcoal powder and charcoal on primed paper. Inspired by the GSA archive visit during a GSA course. The original piece was a students bronze bust of Sir John, circa 1940. I was intrigued by the depth of the eye and the cave like structures that led you into his mind. I used large brushes on this larger scale piece, allowing the charcoal solution to run as tears.
