This painting was inspired by memory, nostalgia and connections with everyday life. I love how over time our lives are made up of many layers of these things. Although past experiences are unique to each individual there are common experiences such as travel and the meanings of colour. This is one of the reasons why I'm drawn to making art that consists of many layers.
Within this painting I considered the way interesting shapes, contrasting colours, repetition of details and complementary colours interacted. This helps create a sense of unity. All these design elements, bold colours, shapes and details contribute to the final composition.
