I create multi-layered, abstract paintings, using colour as a means of self expression.

My work evolves organically as I explore my preferences in paint application, layering textures, shape, line, form and colour.

I paint intuitively which means that initially the painting may seem chaotic but by listening to my inner voice and responding to what’s there and a process of problem solving a painting evolves. However, each paintings journey is unique and individual as the process can vary each time.

Design elements seep into my work as I seek to create colourful, vibrant and harmonious abstract paintings that challenge viewers to stop and look and to see the world from a different perspective.

There are recurrent themes within my work around memory, nostalgia and everyday connections. I love how our lives are made up of many layers of memories which help to make us the person we are. Although past experiences are unique to each individual there are common experiences such as travel and the meanings of colour that provide a sense of connection and identity.

This is why I'm drawn to making art that consists of many layers.
