Break of Day is an etched print with chine colle featuring the view from Fife across the Forth. This artwork is from a series of prints based on the relief that Nicola sought and found after going through consecutively numerous, life changing experiences, including becoming a mother. During that time, walking along the Fife Coastal Path, watching the transience within the scenery provided a tonic to all these changes, offering some clarity and calm. The mediative quality of the ongoing sound of the sea is reflected through etched repeat patterns. This work delves into the layers of uncertainty felt during this period and how this was abated by developing routines and embracing this special time in her life.
